Sourced through an established art community. Variations in finish and detail form part of the work’s authenticity.
Rock Hole Site of Tjiturrulpa (2002) by Eileen Napaltjarri is a remarkable original work from the esteemed Papunya Tula community, representing a deeply significant site within Western Desert Aboriginal culture.
This artwork tells the story of a rock hole site at Tjiturrulpa, an important water source and gathering place in Country. In Aboriginal storytelling, rock holes are not only practical life-sustaining locations, but also places of ceremony, ancestral journeys, and cultural memory. These sacred sites are often represented through intricate mapping motifs that symbolise pathways, meeting places, and the movement of ancestral beings across the landscape.
The composition is richly structured, featuring a network of connected ceremonial symbols and pathways set against a striking field of deep crimson, earthy ochre, black, and white dot work. The interconnected circular forms and geometric pathways create a powerful sense of place, movement, and cultural continuity.
The strong horizontal format gives the piece an architectural quality, making it especially suited to refined interior spaces such as formal living areas, studies, offices, or collector walls.
At 91cm x 61cm, this piece offers a commanding visual presence while remaining highly versatile for both residential and commercial interiors.
A significant example of Papunya Tula Aboriginal art, Rock Hole Site of Tjiturrulpa (2002) combines authentic cultural storytelling with bold visual sophistication, making it a meaningful investment piece for collectors and design-led spaces alike.
